How common are the doshas, really?
Kaal Sarp, Manglik and Sade Sati cause considerable worry, but their base rates are rarely stated. We computed 100,000 birth charts with our astrology engine and counted each pattern. The results put them in proportion. This synthetic study uses no real user data and measures the mathematical base rate per birth moment.

Full Kaal Sarp Dosha is uncommon
A full Kaal Sarp places every classical planet on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis, making it a demanding condition. It appeared in 5.5% of charts. Another 1.2% met a partial form, while 93.3% had none. This is roughly one full case in 18 charts.

Manglik: common as a label, mild in practice
Under the broad classical rule, the Manglik condition applies when Mars occupies a sensitive house counted from the Lagna, Moon or Venus. It is met in 88.2% of charts. Classical Bhanga rules cancel it about 52.5% of the time, leaving a net rate of 41.9%. Only 5.3% are high-severity.

Sade Sati: about a quarter of people, at any time
Because Saturn occupies one sign at a time, Sade Sati (Saturn in the 12th, 1st or 2nd from the natal Moon) affects roughly three of the twelve Moon signs at once. As of 2026-06-03, 24.8% of charts were in Sade Sati — split evenly across its three phases. It is a normal, recurring season, not a rare catastrophe.

Your Moon sign and nakshatra are roughly a coin toss
As a check on the method, the Moon falls into each of the twelve signs about evenly, and into each of the 27 nakshatras between 3.6% and 3.8% — close to the 3.7% you would expect if all were equally likely. No sign is rarer or “more special” than another.

What this means
The three patterns differ in scale: full Kaal Sarp is rare, Manglik is often mild or cancelled, and Sade Sati is a recurring cycle shared by many charts at any given time. These base rates do not dismiss the tradition. They show why an actual chart calculation should come before reacting to a label.
Methodology
Synthetic study — no real user data. Birth moments are sampled uniformly across the date range and clock; birthplaces are sampled across major Indian cities weighted by population. Percentages are the mathematical base rate per birth moment, not a population census. Reproducible from the committed script with the fixed seed.

In a sample of 100,000 computed charts, a full Kaal Sarp (all seven planets between the Rahu–Ketu axis) appeared in only 5.5%, with a further 1.2% softened (partial). 93.3% had no Kaal Sarp at all. A full case is therefore much rarer than common fear-based claims suggest.
