Frequently asked questions

If you cannot find the answer, email [email protected]. We read every message.

Where is my report?

Reports usually arrive within minutes. Check the common delivery issues and the steps for finding or re-sending a report.

Reports usually arrive within minutes

When you complete a checkout, we queue your report immediately. The download link lands in your inbox once the PDF is rendered — usually within a few minutes. You don't have to wait on the email: the order page you're sent to at checkout tracks the same job and offers the download the moment it's ready.

If it's been more than 15 minutes

The most likely cause is your email provider tagging us as promotional or filtering by mistake. Check:

  • Your spam or junk folder.
  • Your "Promotions" tab in Gmail.
  • Filters that auto-archive [email protected].

If you signed up with a typo'd email address, the report sits on our side unsent. Sign in to your account and update the email under Profile — we'll re-send the report to the new address within a few minutes.

If still missing after an hour

Write to [email protected] with the order reference (the eight characters shown on your order page). We'll look up your report directly and re-send the link or refund you if our side dropped the request. Either way, you don't pay twice.

"I haven't had any email at all"

We send one email for a report order: the delivery email, with the download link in it. There is no separate order-confirmation email, so nothing has gone wrong if that's all you're waiting for.

If the delivery email hasn't arrived, check your Orders page — signing in with the email you used at checkout shows every paid order regardless of email delivery state. If you bought as a guest, use the order page link from checkout; that link stays valid for 12 months and is the surest route back to your report, so it's worth bookmarking.

How do I download my PDF again?

The email link can be used once. Download a fresh copy from the order page or your account for 12 months.

The original email link is single-use

For security, the download link we email you works exactly once. Once you've opened it, that link is consumed — this is normal, and it is not a sign that anything has gone wrong.

Re-download without an account

If you bought as a guest, the order page you were sent to at checkout keeps working on its own for 12 months. Open it and click "Download your chart again" — a fresh link is issued each time.

Re-download from your account

  1. Sign in at astroyana.com with the email you used at checkout.
  2. Open the Reports page from your account menu.
  3. Click "Download" next to the report you want — a fresh link is generated and the file downloads immediately.

You can re-download as many times as you like. Each download produces a new link that is valid for one hour, so even if you share one with a family member, the copy in your account stays usable.

How long do reports stay available?

Premium reports stay available to re-download for 12 months from the day they're delivered. Download the PDF and keep your own copy — that file is yours for good, and it is the only copy that outlives the window. Free reports expire 90 days after issue (we email you a reminder a week before); if a free report has expired, you can regenerate it from your saved birth chart on the Birth Chart page.

What about old computers / new phones?

PDFs are tied to your account, not your device. Sign in on any device and all your reports are there. We do not store full card, UPI, or bank credentials, or collect device sensor data. We do retain the report files; limited provider transaction references, status, amount, and method metadata needed for fulfilment, reconciliation, and refunds; and bounded request metadata such as a one-way-hashed IP, browser/device/OS category, and timestamps for security. The complete inventory is in the Privacy Policy.

What's the refund policy?

Refund Policy v5 covers undelivered, wrong-chart, corrupt and withdrawn reports. Unused Yana packs have a 7-day refund window.

Refunds we issue automatically

You don't have to ask in these cases — our system catches them and refunds within minutes:

  • Defective report. If our astrology engine fails mid-render and we can't recover, we refund the full amount and notify you by email.
  • Duplicate charge. If you accidentally pay twice for the same order (rare; usually a browser back-button), the second charge is reversed within minutes.

Report refunds you can request

Within 7 days of purchase, you can request a full refund when a paid report was not delivered, belongs to somebody else’s chart, is corrupt or materially incomplete, or was withdrawn by us for a quality problem. A verified input error reported within 14 days is ordinarily corrected by regenerating the report without charge; a refund may be offered where appropriate.

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Open the Orders page.
  3. Click "Request refund" on the eligible order and tell us why.

We acknowledge a consumer grievance within 48 hours and ordinarily review a refund request within 7 business days. A consumer grievance is redressed within one month. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method; Razorpay normally takes 5–7 business days to show the credit, subject to your bank.

What the 7-day window does not mean

A successfully delivered on-demand report is not refundable merely because you changed your mind, disliked a subjective interpretation, or changed your view about astrology. The 7-day window applies to the specified cases above; it is not a blanket change-of-mind promise. After 7 days we still consider clear technical failure, fraud, and any longer or more favourable remedy required by law. Write to [email protected] with your order reference and evidence.

Disputes via your bank

If you dispute the charge with your bank or card issuer instead, our payment gateway notifies us and we cooperate with their evidence process. The fastest path to your money back is always the in-app refund request, since bank disputes can take 30-60 days to resolve.

Is my data safe?

Birth data is encrypted at rest. We do not sell it and share it only with service providers required to operate the service.

What we store

When you create a birth chart we store your name, email, date of birth, time of birth, place of birth (latitude / longitude / display name), and your phone number if you provided one. Razorpay handles Indian web-checkout payment credentials directly; Stripe is used only where an international option is offered. We never receive or store your full card number, UPI ID, or bank credentials. We retain limited provider transaction references, status, amount, and method metadata needed for fulfilment, reconciliation, and refunds; a one-way-hashed IP plus browser/app/device/OS and timestamps for security; and, when first-party analytics is enabled, only the fixed page/tool/button events listed in the Privacy Policy.

How birth data is protected

Your birth date, birth time, birth coordinates, and birth place name are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. The encryption key never leaves our server's environment variables. Even our database operators can't read these fields without explicit access to the key. Decryption only happens in-process when generating your reports.

Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers required to deliver your report:

  • Razorpay, or Stripe where an international option is offered, for payment processing.
  • ZeptoMail for transactional email delivery.
  • Cloudflare R2 for storing the encrypted PDF.
  • Our own astrology engine to compute the chart (in-process, same network).

We never sell your data and never share it for marketing. We don't run third-party analytics or advertising trackers. Our limited first-party product analytics can be turned off at any time on the Privacy Policy page.

Your data controls and future DPDP rights

Astroyana provides the controls below now as service commitments. The corresponding rights provisions in India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act commence on 13 May 2027:

  • Export everything we hold on you. Sign in and use Account → Download my data.
  • Delete your account and associated data. Sign in and use Account → Delete my account. After the 30-day deletion grace, account and encrypted birth data are hard-deleted. If an active payment dispute requires a legal hold, the disabled account's hard deletion waits until final reconciliation and then resumes. Free and paid PDFs follow their 90-day and 365-day lifetimes. De-identified audit entries remain only until one year after creation; anonymised tax amounts and fields may be retained for 7 years; support and refund records are retained with free text redacted; and encrypted backups are purged within 30 days.
  • Correct any inaccuracies in your profile from the Account page.

Vedic or Western: which should I choose?

Vedic and Western readings answer different questions. This answer explains what each system is designed to show.

Different traditions, different lenses

Vedic (Jyotish) is the classical Indian system: sidereal zodiac, Vimshottari dasha, divisional charts, planetary rulerships from Parashara. It excels at timing — when something is likely to happen, how a particular period of your life unfolds, what the next dasha brings.

Western (Tropical) is the modern Hellenistic-rooted system: tropical zodiac, aspects, transits, progressions. It excels at psychology — how you process emotion, what motivates you, what conflicts inside you, where your blind spots are.

Why not just pick one?

Because they answer different questions. Asking Vedic "what is my personality?" or Western "when will I marry?" is using a screwdriver as a hammer. Both work, but the right tool gives you the cleaner read.

Our premium charts read both side by side. Where they agree (and they agree more often than people expect), the read is loud. Where they diverge, we explain why — usually one tradition is answering a question the other isn't asking.

Sun signs differ between the two — which is "correct"?

Neither — they describe different things. Western tropical Sun signs are based on the season; Vedic sidereal Sun signs are based on the actual star background. Both are valid; they're just measuring different phenomena. The Vedic Sun is about ~24° behind the Western Sun for births this century.

If you're new to one tradition

If you grew up with Indian astrology and want a fresh angle: try Western. If you grew up with horoscope columns and want depth: try Vedic. Either way, our reports are written for both — no prior knowledge required.
