Vivah Muhurat
Launching soon
A wedding date cannot be chosen from place and calendar alone. It must suit two people, so the tradition tests it against both charts. That is why marriage does not appear in the free Muhurat Finder: a date-and-place search cannot answer the question accurately. We are building the report that can.
Why both charts are needed
Guna Milan and the eight-fold match
The Ashtakoot score is calculated from both partners’ Moon nakshatras and signs. It is usually the first question a family considers, and it belongs to the couple rather than to any particular date. A search using only a date and place cannot produce it.
Tarabala and Chandrabala for each partner
A wedding day must suit both the bride and the groom. Each date’s Moon nakshatra is counted from each partner’s Janma nakshatra, and the transiting Moon is judged from each Janma rashi. A date that is strong for one partner but weak for the other does not qualify.
The classical Vivah screens
Marriage has its own preferred nakshatras: Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati. It also has specific tithi rules, with the Rikta tithis, Amavasya and several others set aside. These checks sit on top of the general day-quality rules.
Bhadra, Panchak and Adhik Maas
Bhadra (the Vishti karana) and Panchak are excluded outright. Adhik Maas, the intercalary thirteenth lunar month, removes whole stretches of the calendar as well. So do the Chaturmas months and periods when Venus or Jupiter is combust. This leaves far fewer usable dates in a year than a general finder might suggest.
What the report will include
- The couple’s Ashtakoot (guna milan) score, with all eight kootas shown separately.
- Every candidate date in your range checked against the classical Vivah nakshatra and tithi rules.
- Tarabala and Chandrabala calculated separately for both partners, so a date must suit them both.
- Bhadra, Panchak, Adhik Maas, Chaturmas and the Venus and Jupiter combustion periods excluded, with a reason given for every rejected date.
- A lagna (rising sign) refinement to identify the exact hour within the chosen day, not merely the day itself.
- A plain-language account of why each surviving date receives its rank, based on the same calculations and with no AI-written recommendation.
Every step uses ephemeris arithmetic and classical rules, following the same maths as an almanac keeper and validated against Drik Panchang. AI does not write the recommendation.
What to use in the meantime
- The free compatibility check (Ashtakoot / guna milan) provides the couple’s eight-fold score, which most families settle before considering wedding dates.
- The Personalised Muhurat Report uses one chart and is intended for a housewarming, property purchase, vehicle, naming ceremony or tonsure.
- The free Muhurat Finder ranks every other kind of beginning using the panchang alone.
- The Panchak and Bhadra pages show the two exclusions that every wedding date must clear, for today and the period ahead.
FAQ
Why can’t I find a marriage muhurat with the free finder?
A wedding date depends on both partners’ birth charts. Guna milan, Tarabala and Chandrabala must be calculated for each of them. The free finder asks only for a place and date range and collects no birth details, so it cannot answer this question honestly.
What is guna milan and do I need it before choosing a date?
Guna milan (Ashtakoot) is the eight-fold compatibility score calculated from both partners’ Moon positions. It considers whether the match is well suited, while the muhurat considers when to hold the wedding. Families usually settle the first question before the second, and the free compatibility check can provide that score now.
When will the Vivah Muhurat report be available?
It is still being built and is not on sale. There is no price or checkout on this page because there is nothing to buy yet. When the report launches, this page will become its product page.
Can I use the Personalised Muhurat Report for a wedding instead?
No. That report checks auspicious days against one person’s chart, which suits a housewarming or vehicle purchase but not a marriage. A wedding requires both charts to be considered together. The Personalised Muhurat Report covers housewarming, property, vehicle, naming, tonsure and general auspicious work.
