Which house system should I pick?

The house system decides how your 12 houses (bhāvas) are measured. Whole Sign is the classical default and best for most readings.

Your chart is divided into twelve houses (bhāvas) — areas of life such as self, wealth, family, and career. The house system is simply how those twelve divisions are measured around the chart.

The short answer

Leave it on Whole Sign. It is the classical Parashari default and the best choice for most Vedic readings. Change it only if you specifically follow a method that uses another.

The options

  • Whole Sign (recommended) — each sign is one house. Clean, classical, and the standard for most Parashari work.
  • Sripati — a "quadrant" system that divides the space between the chart's angles; used for some predictive (bhāva) work.
  • Bhava Chalit — equal 30° houses measured from your exact rising degree; a planet near a sign boundary can land in a different house than its sign suggests.

Does it change my result?

Yes — for anything that depends on which house a planet sits in. Mangal Dosha, for example, is about the house Mars occupies, so a planet near a house boundary can move between houses under different systems. Pick the one your tradition uses — and when in doubt, Whole Sign.
