The reasoning behind the rule

Manglik dosha is read as one partner's Mars stressing the marriage house relative to the other. When both charts carry a comparably placed Mars, the tradition holds that the stress is mutual and self-cancelling — neither partner imposes an unmatched Martian intensity on the other. The caveats that matter

The rule is sound, but treat it as a starting signal, not the whole verdict:

• Strength and placement should be comparable. Two Mangliks whose Mars placements are very different in strength or house don't balance as cleanly. A careful reading compares the actual placements, not just the "Manglik / not Manglik" label.
