How much time do Saturn transit spans cover?
We scanned Saturn’s occupancy of houses 12, 1, 2, 4 and 8 from the natal Moon at 15-day intervals across 5,000 synthetic 90-year lifetimes. We also measured transit spans by bridging retrograde gaps shorter than a year. The figures below use that span basis; actual occupancy is reported separately. This measures time, not life outcomes.

Transit timing reflects Saturn’s orbit
Saturn circles the zodiac in about 29.5 years. The three-house Sade Sati zone and the 4th and 8th houses recur with that motion. Combined span coverage ranged from 38.1 to 43.8 years in the sample. That similarity describes orbital timing, not evidence about real people’s life outcomes.

- 8th from the Moon9.6%

Short retrograde gaps are bridged. Shares are independently rounded and may not sum to 100%; this is not actual occupancy.
Sade Sati years come from the engine's source-bounded compute_sade_sati windows (Saturn in the 12th, 1st or 2nd from the natal Moon; exact cusps, retrograde wobble bridged). Saturn in the 4th and 8th from the Moon is measured by house with the same ephemeris, by a 15-day step-scan under the same wobble rule (the Sade Sati windows use the engine's default 7-day step); the popular labels Dhaiya (Kantaka Shani) and Ashtama Shani are oral-tradition conventions with no located printed śloka, so neither the engine nor this study emits them. 'Total' = all five houses (12, 1, 2, 4, 8). A span runs from first ingress to final egress, bridging retrograde gaps shorter than a year. Counting actual occupancy instead gives a 15-day-scan estimate of 37.5 years (41.6%). The sample mean for engine Sade Sati windows located with a 7-day scan and second-level cusp refinement is 23.67 years, compared with 23.65 for scanned spans. The 0.02-year difference is between sample means; it is not a bound on each chart’s timing error. Per lifetime, the mean absolute difference is 20 days, by 30 days or less in 94.5% of lifetimes, and by at most 287 days.
What this means
These figures describe calculated Saturn positions and the chosen counting basis. They do not show that a person spends nearly half of life in difficulty. The study did not test good or bad life outcomes, population event rates, or predictive accuracy. Your transit timeline shows the dates of the calculated periods.
Methodology
Synthetic study — no real user data. Birth moments are sampled uniformly across the date range and clock; birthplaces are sampled across major Indian cities weighted by population. Percentages are the mathematical base rate per birth moment, not a population census. Reproducible from the committed script with the fixed seed. Each chart's 90-year lifetime from birth is scanned at 15-day resolution for Saturn's house from the natal Moon. Span basis: a transit runs from first ingress to final egress with retrograde dips shorter than a year bridged (how a Sade Sati is conventionally dated; the engine's definition). Occupancy basis: only the days Saturn is actually inside the house(s). The span basis is always a little longer because every cusp crossing brings a few months of retrograde to-and-fro.
No confidence interval was computed for mean durations or mean lifetime coverage. A binomial margin for a sampled event proportion does not describe the uncertainty of these means.

FAQ
How much time do Sade Sati spans cover?
Across 5,000 synthetic 90-year lifetimes, Sade Sati spans cover a mean 23.7 years, with a mean 3.3 spans. Retrograde gaps shorter than a year are bridged; this is not a count of only the days Saturn occupies those houses.
Does this study measure life outcomes or personal punishment?
No. It compares calculated planetary positions and time. It does not test good or bad life outcomes, personal punishment, or events in a real population.
How do combined span coverage and actual occupancy differ?
The combined spans for houses 12, 1, 2, 4 and 8 from the Moon cover a mean 41 years (45.5%). These spans bridge short retrograde gaps. Counting only Saturn’s occupancy of those houses gives a 15-day-scan estimate of 37.5 years (41.6%). These are two different measures in a synthetic sample.
